Spirit of Boise 2016 Guide

Aww the smell of a crisp morning, drinking a warm cup of coffee and patiently waiting for multiple hot air balloons to inflate and take off in Ann Morrison Park is only days away! Yes, the 25th Annual Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic is set to take flight August 31st through September 4th and we can't wait!!!

We want to make sure you, your family and friends get the best experience ever so we have listed the schedule of events below, along with where to grab your cup of joe or breakfast afterwards and what to bring each morning!

*All times are weather permitting.

Wednesday, August 31, 2016

Time: 7:15am

What: First Inflation! This is a day your little ones will actually want to wake up early for! There will be approximately 20 hot air balloons inflated and tethered on this day. While the balloons remain in the park your little ones will have the opportunity to interact with the pilots and other balloon workers as well as pose for pictures in the baskets and even take a short lift in the balloon! (All balloons will be tethered, so they won't go far and parents will be able to join!)

Before you head to Ann Morrison Park bright and early, stop by The Human Bean of Treasure Valley for your morning cup of coffee! Most all of their locations open at 6am!

Time: 6:00pm- Friday, September 2nd

What: Not a morning person? We don't blame you! Luckily, there is an evening event for you and other non-early risers! Plus, this is a great chance for your kiddos to see the balloons up close as well as see how they light up! Balloons are escorted to the park by the Boise Police Department through the streets of Boise! The park is bustling with live music, food vendors, families and more! At approximately 8:15pm (dusk), Nite Glow begins with 25 balloons taking turns lighting up the sky, lined up side-by-side!

*We suggest you bring blankets and/or lawn chairs for this event! Depending on weather, a light jacket!

Saturday, September 3rd

Time: 7:15am

What: Come by the park to watch the pilot's skills as they are given navigational tasks as well as play a game of "Porta-Potty Bowling"!

Sunday, September 4, 2016

Time: 7:15am (We suggest you arrive at least by 6:30am-6:45am for parking and because the park becomes crowded with spectators alike on this last day!)

What: For the fifth and final day of the Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic, around 50 balloons take flight in 30 seconds! Watch the whole process as they set up, inflate and then take off! Another great day to bring your camera!!!

Enjoy breakfast afterwards because you're up anyway!

If you are an extra early riser and get to the park before most people, you can easily park at Ann Morrison Park. However, if you are not a fan of waiting behind other cars and don't mind a small walk, we suggest you park at one of the establishments along American Blvd. *Note that some businesses do not allow parking from non-customers.*
