Fun For Adventure Seekers with AlpenGlow Mountainsport

by Aaron McFarland

What started as a passion led to a business that would serve adventure to the Treasure Valley for 19 years and counting. Alpenglow offers a large variety of retail and rentals that are perfect for exploring Idaho. Some of the apparel include sandals, life jackets, swim shorts, accessories, and more. The kayak and rafts can be reserved for planned trips or rented out on the day of for a spontaneous adventure, as Alpenglow calls it, the Call In Sick rental.

Alpenglow owner, Chuck Cremer, began white water rafting in college and fell in love with the sport of rafting and kayaking. He explained that after not knowing what to do when he grew up he decided to open a shop in Colorado and explained that the shop “fell into his lap”. Him and his wife Anne later roadtripped to Boise and decided that Boise was the perfect place to bring Alpenglow. It opened in 2002 and successfully gives locals the supplies they need to venture to new places. As it warms up, Alpenglow Mountainsport is the best place to stop by for all of your rafting and kayaking needs.

Looking for a good spot to raft or Kayak? Chuck would recommend Middle fork of the Salmon which is about a 5-7 day trip for the bigger adventure seekers and Payette for a more local spot. Chuck knows everything when it comes to rafting and kayaking, you can stop by and get advice and information from Chuck himself.

Alpenglow is open from 10-6 on weekdays and 9-6 on weekends although hours may change following Memorial Day. Visit them at 2314 Bogus Basin Rd to learn more about rental opportunities and to get some great gear for an upcoming trip.
