SELECT SIX: DAILY MUSIC PICKS

SELECT SIX: DAILY MUSIC PICKS

Our This Is Boise music picks for today’s Treefort festivities!

BabyJake

10:40pm | Knitting Factory

“BabyJake is bringing the glamour of the 70’s to modern day, combining latest production knowledge with an undeniably retro feel that can bring your mom back to the pictures of her high school celebrity crushes she pulled pictures of out of her vinyl booklets. He broke through to listeners in 2019, when his “Cigarettes on Patios” went gold with a million-plus streams, gaining much notoriety.”

Jane Weaver

10:10pm | Neurolux

“Abusing, evading and obliterating 20 years of whimsical pop trends, Jane Weaver’s experience as a truly independent and resilient female experimental songwriter/sound-carrier commands respect and inspiration in equal measures. From teenage Liverpudlian shoe-gazer to conceptual-pop mistress, has seen her graze with pocket-punk, Synth-pop, acid folk, indie-schmindie, dark-ambient drones, Hollywood soundtracks and girl-group psych.”

Siena Liggins

12am | Reef

“Siena Liggins has climbed to one of Billboard’s Top Ten Rising LGBTQ+ artists and shared stages with the likes of Lizzo, Doja Cat, King Princess, Baby Tate, Tkay Maidza, and Dreya Mac. In 2021, Siena’s explosive debut album, “Ms. Out Tonight,” arrived complete with fast-paced, sensory overload visuals for every song. She’s a pop provocateur who sees her existence as activism amidst an inescapable queer renaissance making songs you can’t get out of your head. ”

Husbands

4:50pm | Bandshell

“Husbands plays landlocked beach pop that sidequests Krautrock, garage rock, and tropicalia. OKC-based songwriters Danny Davis and Wil Norton got their start directing a Godzilla musical at their college and then began sharing snippets of lofi grunge pop ideas that came together in their first album, “Golden Year.” This album caught local label Clerestory AV’s attention, who assisted Husbands release its first vinyl LP, “After the Gold Rush Party,” on an imprint label, Cowboy 2.0 Records.”

N3ptune + Rusty Steve

6:30pm | Knitting Factory

“N3ptune is an explosive multi-hyphenate hailing from Denver, CO. A proudly queer singer/songwriter, producer, dancer, model, actor, and director, N3ptune is carving out a lane in Denver’s music scene, unlike anything that has come before. Heavily influenced by his upbringing in the Baptist Church, N3ptune is a genre-bender who merges the essence of gospel, blues, and soul into an amalgamation of pop music as only his mind can create.”

TeZaTalks

1pm | Rhodes Skate Park

“TeZatalks was on yesterday’s list too, but after watching her show last night, she deserves to be here again. Powerhouse vocalist and songwriter Tezatalks draws us into her world of life experiences through her redefining and genre bending sound . Raised on the island of Oahu TeZA made her debut in the Seattle scene early 2016 with her E.P Chaos which gained The Queer HARDCORE POP STAR millions of streams across multiple platforms and a dedicated fan base.”

The Physical Creative

3:00 pm| Boise Centre East (Room 410C)

“The Physical Creative” explores how our physical bodies and our personal stories inspire innovation and creativity in the arts, the workplace, and everyday life. It is a return to play and a rebel renunciation of linear thinking and hum drum habits that can lead to stereotypes and cliché. In this workshop, the physical body is seen as a generator of creativity for any discipline. Our bodies are our primary communication device, and have a unique intelligence, as brilliant as cerebral intelligence, but often underutilized.
